Education is a fundamental task for the coming generation". New Century demands qualified intellectual with comprehensive abilities. Nowadays, ability education is the most suitable educational system for China. Only by ability education can we cultivate qualified intellectual. The research is proposed with the aim of promoting the development of ability education, exerting the role of moral education in ability education, and improving the actual effect of moral education. The thesis consists of four parts.Part one: a brief statement of modern ability education in middle school. The meaning, the basic content, the characters, and the basic requirements of modern ability education in middle school is mainly stated in this part. It points out that ability education should be geared to the needs of all students and help students to develop in an all-round way. In China, ability education requires students to learn how to behave properly, how to study, work, create and co-operate, how to build themselves and how to be aestheticPart two: the dialectical relationship between moral education and ability education. Firstly it summarizes the meaning, the basic content and the function of moral education, and points out that moral education in middle school including political education, ideological education, law and discipline education and psychological education .The moral education in middle school ability education possesses functions of political guidance, intellectual support, environmental protection and so on. Secondly, it discusses the relationship of dialectical unity between moral and ability education from three aspects ?"moral education is one part of ability education"; "moral education is the center of ability education in middle school", "moral education, intelligent education, physical education and aesthetic education are interrelated and interact on each other during the process of education."Part three: the urgent requirement of strengthening and improving ability education in middle school. Beginning with the achievement and the problems of the moral education in middle school, this part analyzes the present situation and points out the negative effects of which on ability education. Secondly, from the ideological understanding of the whole society, educational environment, methods of moral education, concerning policies, the degree to which leaders emphasize ability education, teacher's quality and people who are educated, it analyzes six causes that affect moral education in middle school. Last, from the objective demand for qualified intellectual in new century, the educational idea in which moral education is the main part of ability education, middle school students' quality and the tendency of educational development, it makes a further statement about strengthening and improving quality education in middle school, and points out it is necessary in new century to do so. Education should be geared to the world, the future and the modernization. We should critically assimilate the experience of quality education in other country for reference.Part four: measures and proposals. In order to strengthen and improve the moral education in middle school and to promote the development of ability education, seven measures are put forward according to the ideological understanding, the idea of education, the content and methods of moral education, the management of moral education, the subjectivity of students and the educational environment.
