With the development of the information technology, web-based education has come into being. By this means, students can do their studying anytime and anywhere, and teaching resources have also become more and more rich. However, most of coursewares for web teaching are currently based on traditional mode. These softwares all take the system as the center; having not fully considered needs and custom of users, they require users be adapted to the system but not that the system be suitable for users. That do not follow the learning rule of human beings, so many problems has appeared in web-based teaching at present, such as weak interaction and non-notable instruction. Using Artificial Intelligent and expert system knowledge, the intelligent courseware generation system based on shared resources pursue a comprehensive solution from the viewpoint of students' learning. The system aims to help students learning independently and maintaining learning motive force. It also provide teachers the author tool of courseware that follows CELTS standard, thus to increase the usage of teaching resources. The author used XML bind data, and packaged the courseware. The core of the system is decision-making and reasoning, which is responsible for arranging the relation between learners and teaching variables. Based on the definition of reasoning rules, the author constructed a series of expert system midware and implemented complete reasoning functions. In addition, in this paper, as an efficient means to implement independent study, XML is applied to the courseware generation module.In Section One, the author described a series of concepts and theories about Intelligent Tutoring System(ITS), and addressed the major function and important effects that d Intelligent Tutoring System(ITS) played in distance education.In Section Two the author proposed a the intelligent c ourseware g eneration system based on shared resources, and described the framework and main algorithm. The paper also addressed the developing process and some key skills involved in the system in detail.Finally, the author pointed out the improvements that his study needed according to his research achievements. How to make the system and AI technology play effective role in networked ITS, which need further study and experiments.
