In the ancient times in Chinese history, unequal treatment to women in the social position decide the non-balance in the women's right of education. But the unequal treatment to women in the social position, the three obediences and the four virtues are the result of the feudal power politics. So along with the deepening of the national crisis of China in the modern times and rising of the Western Learning, the advanced bourgeois Intellectuals began to attack (in speech or writing) violently feudal patriarchal clan system with the western "theory of natural rights" as a weapon. They put forward the viewpoint on equality between the sexes and the building of the woman' school and put it into effect. So the arising of modern women's education really was in the last years of the Qing dynasty (1990's梩he founding of the Republic of China in 1912). In the history of Chinese women's education, the rising and developing of women's education in the last years of the Qing Dynasty served as a link between the past and the future .It set off an upsurge of the building of women's school in society and spured the awakening of the advance women in subject consciousness and then formed the women intellectual masses who went around campaigning for liberation. Even more it urged the Qing government to issue the decree on women's education that made it legalize and laid a foundation for the development of women education's in depth in the period of Republic of China.The thesis is devided into four parts:The first part tries to track back to the course and cause that how women's education in the last years of the Qing Dynasty was arosed and developed .The writer thinks that women's education in the last years of the Qing Dynasty was effected by the women's missionary school and the women's study abroad in the national conditions of national crisis, then was spreaded by the rising bourgeois intellectuals and some awaken women(especially the women students studyingabroad),and at last was affirmed by the Qing government .It made a start in the period of Constitutional Reform and Modernization ,developed in the period of the Revolution of 1911 and was established as a system by the Qing government in 1907. It underwent the difficult developing course that grew out of nothing and was from initiating among the people to setting up by the government.The second part puts the emphasis on the analyzing dialectially the renewal and development of women's sense in education from the women's right to education and the purpose of education. The author things that the advanced intellectuals in the last years if Qing Dynasty had realized that the women's right was the premise of the women's accepting education and the women's accepting education was the basis of the women's rights. So they advocated energetically the building of women's school. Their purpose of education was a sublate to the traditional ideas in education "A women without scholarship was one with moral character". But the purpose of education provided by the Qing government had both advances in that times and strong feudal features.The third part refined and summarized the peculiarity and effect of the women's education in the last years of the Qing Dynasty. The women's education in the last years of the Qing Dynasty embodied the characteristic of features of the age and political nature. But it was full of arduous nature yet. So we gain a good deal of enlightenment from it. But its upsurge and development occupies an important place in the history of modern education and women's liberation movement.The last part links up the realities of nowadays and puts forward a proposal that the traditional ideas still are the key to hindering the development of the women's education in some areas. So we are not allowed to treat it lightly and this is exactly the significance of this thesis.
