This thesis compares chemistry textbook in Senior high school of the present together with the past and makes a specific design on the teaching material reforms in senior high school, which regards recent modern teaching theories as the foundation as well as combines with the current research result of teaching material reforms.First, this thesis discussed the position and function of teaching material in teaching activities. It is an important carrier that deliver knowledge and also a main basis when teachers organize teaching activities. Proceed to the textbook's comparisons and analysises is an important aspect to promote reasonable use of the present textbooks, and it is also an important aspect to push forward the teaching material reforms. Regardless which textbooks, it is an epitome of the politics, economy, and cultures in it's times. Study our country's development of the Senior High School teaching material of Chemistry with it's developing trend is actually a study from one side to our country's foundational education in yesterday, today, and tomorrow.For keeping up with the times, in 1996, National Education Committee promulgated the new course's plan with the syllabus, and wrote present textbooks for high school according to the syllabus. In 1997, the textbooks have been used to test formally in the scope of two provinces and a city. From the 2000 autumn, the Chemistry Book for Senior Grade One (experimental revision*compulsory) has been used in the whole country's 10 city fulltime senior high schools. And it is to be used in the whole nation untill 2003. Therefore, this thesis regard the experimental revision* compulsory chemistry textbook for Senior Grade One that published by the People's Educational Press in 2000 together with the original compulsory book published by the People's Educational Press in the 1990 as the comparison objects in the research.Moreover, this paper has investigated the development of the domesticteaching materials and the international teaching materials analysed the principle of how to compile the teaching material of chemistry. Combined with the present textbook's knowledge structure, the paper emphasized the differences of the two books with their theories, chemical element, compound knowledge, basic experiment, basic calculation etc. Through the analyses of the two books, it proposes the objective evaluation of them and gives reasonable suggestions to the corresponding types of the content of the present textbooks.Finally, the writer combined the paper with the request of our country's current education development to the new period teaching material reforms, concern with the future of our country's teaching material reforms of chemistry, put forward several suggestions about our country's teaching material reforms of chemistry: The spirit of teaching material should return to human; teaching material target should more characterful, socializing and more popular; the developing in the flexibility of the teaching material contents ; teaching and learning method's type in the book should be investigable, cooperant and interactional; teaching material's diversification's and modernization's trend etc.
