Key to English teaching innovation is reading teaching innovation. The most important way of reading teaching innovation is to use discourse analysis method successfully. From seven years' teaching experience, I have summarized regular teaching procedures, teaching contents and teaching methods.This paper combines the actual situation in senior high school to explore how to use discourse analysis method in reading teaching in China senior high school.The paper first discusses the essence of reading. The discussion is from psychology theory, cognitive theory and psychological linguistics. Besides these, this part also introduces the classification of reading, reading methods, reading models and so on.On the basis of questionnaire, the paper analyses the necessity for changing the reading teaching method in china senior high schools. Next to that comes themost important part of the paper-discourse analysis method. The paper hasexpounded the definition theory basis and main content. The theory basis for discourse analysis method is schemata theory. The schemata include the form schemata and the content schemata. To reading, the schemata theory has directive, predictive, and supplementary function. The background knowledge, stylistic structure and connection ways are all included in the content of schemata theory.To illustrate clearly how to use discourse analysis method in reading teaching, the author introduces the three procedures of this method. The first procedure is overall leading-in. The purpose for this procedure is to let students understand themain content of the text briefly so that they can form understanding ability of surface-structure. The second procedure is microanalysis. The purpose for this procedure is to let students get more specific and detailed information. This will help them form understanding ability of deep structure. The third procedure is absorbing fully. The purpose for this procedure is to cultivate students' inductive, deductive, judging,apprehensive and communicative ability. In order to know the feasibility of this method, the author once had one teaching experiment. Therefore, Senior English reading should be conducted at a discourse level.
