The rapid development of the Internet has also greatly motivated thedevelopment of cooperative learning in English as Foreign Language (EFL) classes. Study shows that the application of the Internet to EFL classes will help students to achieve better results in cooperative learning. The current English Curriculum in China emphasizes the cultivation of students' ability in cooperative learning, it, thus, is necessary for us to research into the theory and effective approaches of Internet-based cooperative learning in English as Foreign Language EFL classes.This paper reviews some of general aspects of Internet-based EFL cooperative learning. The paper contains five sections. It begins with the literature review, categories of cooperative learning, types, models and variables of cooperative learning in EFL classes; deals with the theoretical basis of this research, benefits and problems of teaching and learning English through the Internet; then elaborates the account of research, research goals, research approaches, variables of the experiment, stages of the experiment, design of the experiment, and so on; and then presents a detailed introduction, implementation, assessment and data analysis of the research program; and finally, gives a subjective description of advantages and limitations in this experiment, and some suggestions for further study. The author thinks that the research is of great theoretical significance and practical value.
