In the development of American educational democracy, Brown v. Board of Education is a landmark: not only constitutional base of race separate education was cast down, but also the point for minorities to win over the equal opportunity in education was broken through. And since then minority educational situation has been greatly changed.By adopting the methods of historical study and comparative analysis, this dissertation, begins with the historical development of American minority education, describes the progress of minority educational equalization during the 50 years since Brown case decision, and explores the historical factors that promoted or hindered American minority educational equalization and strategies. Finally the conclusions are drawn that desegregation is only one way to gain equal education for minorities and that the fundamental direction to solve minority educational problem lies only on pursuing educational achievement equality today in 21st century.
