The Application Research Of Multimedia Database In Teaching-Case Management System

Teaching-case is the ladder of teachers' professional development on ICT. Teachers and Researchers pay more attention to teaching-cases' analysis and management. Teaching-cases have many representation forms and can be described from different points of view. How to apply information technology to managing and organizing the cases composed of different media, is an important direction of case researches. In nature, a teaching-case is combination of various media .It is an educational multimedia object. Thus this paper introducing the idea about designing multimedia database to cases' management ,which adopts a lax-coupling structure to build up multimedia database and its management ,that's to say, using RDBMS to store and manage metadata of multimedia data and using file system to manage multimedia file ,then unite both together organically . On the base of that, map the entities of multimedia database to classes of multimedia classes library by the object-oriented idea and abstract a multimedia data access layer ,thereby implement a new four-layer multimedia database application system on the basis of traditional three-layer structure of database application by inserting the multimedia data access layer. Accordingly, for video cases, the author develops practical disposing tools convenient for teachers' use, including physical cutting tools, logistic cutting tools, noting tools and combination tools.This paper is composed of four parts, of which part 2 and 3 are emphases and difficulties:Chapter 1: research background, present domestic and abroad correlative domain research actuality and main contents of this paper.Chapter 2: design and implement of multimedia database and management system in TCMS. On the basis of which, applying multimedia data access layer to encapsulating various requests for multimedia data, Thereby building a new four-layer application system structure with multimedia data access layer.Chapter 3: critical event and a series of its management tools.Chapter 4: conclusion and prospect of this paper.
