Compared with the Chinese teaching of reading and writing, there is no profound research and practice in L&S teaching in China, and especially there still has a big blankness on the core of oral communication for the L&S teaching research. In reality, a thorough investigation needs to be made in such a field. This thesis recalls the past of L&S teaching of Chinese in historical development, analyzes and induces the present characteristics and tendency of teaching mother tongue in some countries and districts of the world. It focuses on the new period of L&S teaching in our mother tongue — the problems in oral communication, raising the corresponding countermeasure meaningfully and practically.The whole thesis is divided into three parts: preface, main body, concluding remarks.There are three chapters in the part of main body. The first chapter combs the historical developed trial of L&S teaching of Chinese in New China from four periods. They are traditional Chinese teaching period, modern Chinese teaching period, the period after the foundation of new China and the revolution of new curricula system. In the long Chinese education history, the L&S teaching experienced intricate process of ignoring, entering the Chinese teaching area step by step, taking the same role as Reading and Writing, and carrying out the oral communicational methodology. It has stepped into a completely new stage. The new stage tallied with the revolution of both world's mother tongue teaching and the inclination of Chinese L&S teaching. The second chapter reviews and analyzes the present characteristics and tendency of global Chinese L&S teaching in some countries and districts, induces the salient features andtrend of present world's Chinese L&S teaching------attaching importance to the mothertongue L&S teaching, especially laying emphasis on the very beginning period of oral expression, regarding highly the influence of the broadcasting intermediary in oral communication, the content, method and measures becoming more and more abundant.
