Research Of XML Application In The Web-Based Teaching

Since 1990s, especially at the turn of the century, the world open and distance education has entered a thriving historical period. The Chinese government has sanctioned 68 universities to embark on the modern distance education, hi order to promote the further share of outstanding educational resources through the whole country and accelerate the construction of modern distance education, Ministry of Education started " the web-based course construction project in new century " in 2000. Universities of our country have invested a lot on the construction of web-based educational resources and have obtained noticeable achievement.Meanwhile, there are still many developing problems in this process. According to statistics, the platforms applied by the 68 web-based education institutes reached 98 unexpectedly by the end of 2003, so the web-based courses of these institutes has repeatedly constructed in low-level and difficult to interflow, share . The most existing web-based educational recourses haven't referred to the state educational technology standard that aims to reinforce the resources share ,thus baffles such resources to be reused to some extent. Because the web-based education is on its initial stage, many web-based courses have not fully utilized the characteristic of the network media, especially not fully utilized the advantage of XML yet. Just like traditional books course, the web-based course still offer unanimous study environment to learners and have not really had individualized network course. Most of them has just stayed in the research of the theory and can't influence the learner's study enthusiasm and learning efficiency to some extent. In this paper, the author wants to arouse vast network educators to use our country's current education technical standard and inspire them develop the concrete standard correlating with online education resources, promote the sharing of online education resources. Also, the writer expects to help learner set up suitable individual learning environment through individualized network courses prompt study and use XML more widely.XML, using meaningful mark, with strictness grammar control, separates the webpage data and presentation .It is this difference with HTML that makes XML be more convenient and effectively in network application and information sharing .
