As one of the most important tasks in the postgraduate education, the moral education plays an irreplaceable role. In recent years, China has been experiencing tremendous developments in both society and economy, especially changing in the training mode for postgraduates. The old moral education mode for postgraduate education is then facing a big challenge now, from which the new moral education for postgraduates in new era becomes a problem. To solve out this problem, the formation, development, construction and practice of moral education mode in history is described and analyzed in detail in the paper by the methods of literature study and questionnaire survey.Based on the analysis of the development for university moral education system since the foundation of P.R.C, the success and failure of moral education is explored firstly. Through a review of the general rules of theories and practice for university moral education, the basic trends and characters of modern moral education development is induced, which is certainly a good historical groundwork to construct a new moral education mode for postgraduates. The paper also reviews the formation and development of moral education theories in foreign countries, analyzes their influences on the domestic theories and compares the related contents in moral education between universities in western countries and China. With a special concern on the moral education aboard, the typical case of an American university is adopted to prompt the suggestions to new mode for our moral education in era. Furthermore, a general description of the basic characters for the postgraduate mentality situations is provided via the different comparison of moral education systems between the new and old eras, from which the basic principles of construction for the moral education in the new era are generated.Based on the historical experiences, comparison and practice for moral education in universities, a complete study of moral education mode for postgraduate is carried out to contain the assumptive theories, structural process of knowledge and complete operational system. Thus, a new mode of the moral education for postgraduates in the new era is suggested on the idea level, structural level and operational level. It is also verified in case studies of Tsinghua University and Peking University, focusing on the ideal education, academic education, personality education, social education and life education for postgraduates. Finally a series of suggestions on how to develop and improve postgraduates' moral education in the new era is provided to the universities and government.
