The basic task of Chinese middle school English teachers is to help develop students'interest, confidence, proper strategy, learning style, and to help establish a good knowledge of language as well as culture so as to ensure that they can keep on learning later in their life. The key point to achieve the goal is the amount of language acquired by students. With sufficient comprehensible language input, language learning can be very close to language acquisition. This paper examines the past and the present condition of Chinese Middle school English teaching, refers to the relevant theory of SLA and then describes the reason for the lack efficiency of Chinese middle school English teaching is that our students don't have sufficient language input. Considering the time consumed on English learning during the middle school years, the total amount of language input should be more than one million English words. Students'command of vocabulary and teachers'management of the materials are critical to language input.
