The Research On Yan Yuan's Educational Thought

Yan Yuan is a statecraft educator and thinker of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, he is the founder of Yan-Li School. In order to advocate his statecraft thought, he dare risk everyone's condemnation, he both criticized the Li-Xue thought that has occupied an overruling status, and called for useful educational view and brought them the effect.The appearance of Yan Yuan's statecraft educational thought both humored the times and reflected the useful thought of the new citizen class. His thought took on the use of bridge that he linked tradition and realism closely. He also pioneered a useful educational way that deal with concrete matters relating to work and directed modern times educational thought.The dissertation will discuss about Yan Yuan's educational thought from a more material angle, it consist the four following aspects.Firstly, the author will analyze the reason of Yan Yuan's educational thought, the 17th century is another fluctuant era. a new class-citizen class came forth, from their number one, they put forward to practicality and utilitarian demand; the rapid change between the late Ming and early Qing, especially different race maining China gave. Many intellectuals were greatly hurt in soul, after recauling a painful experience they believed that it was the scholars' talking and not practicing that resulted in such a bad condition. Where as, a lot of person with lofty ideas include Yan Yuan sponsored useful study and opposed useless Li-Xue of Song and Ming dynasty, all the above settled social basis for Yan Yuan's useful educational thought.The birth of Yan Yuan's educational thought was also connected with the development of learning itselt. the statecraft thought wasn't all the same in every dynasty, though every era the thought wasn't always used in the same way, "wai-wang" thought took up most of the dominant voice .however, alone with the risingof Li-Xue thought, the value center of scholar has begun to turn into "nei- sheng" thought, the end of Li-Xue thought between Ming and Qing sank into talking and doing no practice, just as what has been said in The Catalogue of The Tatal Book in Si Ku:"perhaps Yuan was born in the early Qing, he saw the missing caused by all the intellectuals of the end of Ming who edvocated Xin-Xue study, and indulged in doing as one pleases so he corrected its harm and devoted his efforts to utility."what's more, The birth of Yan Yuan's educational thought was also related to the scholars' encouragement. Yan Yuan knew the importance of friends, just because of their argument, Yan Yuan got the inspirement of the thought. Yan Yuan's thought was also because of his own change. Just as other intellectuals, at first, Yan Yuan also study Li-Xue thought, gradually, he found that Li-Xue thought was empty and unpractical, which had no use for their country that was in danger, so he protested statecraft thought, all the above resultant force caused the production of Yan Yuan's statecraft educational thought.Secondly, the author will analyze Yan Yuan's useful thought from educational aim, content and method, his aim was to train real person with ability who can "mediate the universe and benefit the commom people", they either could be general intellectuals Or expert only if can they handle affair for the common people.For such aim, Yan Yuan opposed useless educational content, advanced useful content such as Liu Fu, San Shi, San Wu, Liu De, Liu Xing, Liu Yi, etc. in fact, they covered moral education ,wisdom education, and physical education which we advocate today.Yan Yuan's educational thought has broken through the benius that ignore the study of science and technology and discard physical training, he advocated Vigorously to study science and technology to adapt the era. he emphasized the importance of physical training, he advised that the building of moral should be...
