With the development of on-line education, the virtual experiment experienced from academic research to practical application. Virtual experiment is computer simulation experiment by use of hardware and software. The technology of virtual experiment greatly support on-line education's practice on the field of science instruction. The research put forward the design method on the basis of the actuality of virtual experiment and the problem of virtual experiment, at the same time, do some work on the design and research.Networked virtual experiment is based on computer technology multimedia technology network technology and instrumental technology. Also, the combination of virtual instrumental technology and cognize methodology endows virtual experiment with the characters of intelligence. All teachers and students can enter virtual laboratories to do all kinds of experiments freely. Virtual laboratories not only can provide technique supports for experimental courses in distance education, but also can provide more instruments to students at all needed time.By using virtual experiment, we can simulate some experimental phenomena via network. Virtual laboratories can enhance the instructional effects of distance education. The more important point is they can provide students who lack the chance to do experiment some precious chances. Moreover, students can cooperate with each other via network.The essence of virtual experiment is E-Learning. E-Learning is learning activity by Internet to get E-learning resource. Virtual experiment has five main characteristics that E-learning has: Center on the problem and item; Center on the learner; Learning with personality; Regard cooperation and communication as the assistant study method; Learning with creation.In virtual laboratory, the learning activity proceeds with experiment or item; The learning begins from the angle of learner itself; When learning, the learner not only discuss and research problem, but also produce new knowledge new problem new viewpoint new vision. This is just the process that train and intensify the thinking, namely learning with creation.Currently, the research about networked virtual laboratory is just at beginning. It's the most important that we should research the principle, the mode and the methodology of virtual experiment instruction in the distance education.After analyzing the theoretic basis, development clew, correlative technology in detail, The research introduce the development environment, and give a design example of virtual experiment instruction, hi the part of summarization, the concept of virtual instrument, virtual experiment and virtual laboratory are presented, then the meaning and characteristics of virtual instrument and virtual experiment are showed, at last the theoretic basis is introduced in particular. In the part of evolution about virtual experiment, the development clew is showed from the angle of the past, the present and the future. In the part of correlative technology about virtual experiment, the JAVA technology, ActiveX technology, VRML technology, QTVR technology, GGI technology and ASP technology are introduced especially. Based on the above-mentioned, the advantage and disadvantage of virtual experiment are analyzed. In the last, an experiment about digital signal processing is designed.
