John Keller, a professor in Florida State University of America, developed ARCS model of motivational design. This model regards motivation as the key factor of learning and claims that motivating and keeping learning motivation should be the clue of instructional design. Starting from the instructional actuality, the research applies ARCS model of motivational design into primary English class instruction under the background of multimedia class for lecture, in order to present a set of multimedia teaching strategies that can guide instruction effectively. This article analyses ARCS model of motivational design deeply, then give the research on the design of multimedia teaching strategies from such two facets as the design of resource and the organization of class teaching. This design runs around such four factors as attention,relevance,confidence and satisfaction, with consideration of the characteristics about primary school students and primary English curriculum. The multimedia teaching strategies were put into practice in Cangzhou Experimental Primary School of Hebei province. The three months of experimental study validates the feasibility and validity of the multimedia teaching strategies designed.
