| With the development of multimedia and Internet technologies, theories andpractices of web based distance education have developed rapidly. These mustcause the changes of educational principles, educational models and learningmodels. Web based distance education begins to regard the learner as center of thelearning system and researches the learning of the learner. It doesn't only researchthe teaching of the teacher. Now adaptable learning and cooperative learning andadaptable learning all have made more progresses. By the researches of theselearning models, we can distinguish the differences between them accurately now.This research is based on adaptable learning systems, and brings forward abetter system which can integrate them. It can help the learner to get knowledgemore facility, and let them utilizing their individual way of thinking. It canenhance the learner's ability on communication and comprehension. And weattempt to design several important models of this adaptable learning system. Wedo this research carefully and analyze the learner's characteristics specifically.We research the problems below:1) We design a learning system of network-based because web based distance education has had a great development and brings forward a new design of adaptable learning system. The system is based on the learner and analysis of the learner's characteristics which is the groundwork of the system. We introduce constructivism and cognition learning theory, and regard project-based collaborative learning as primary learning strategy. We attempt to make adaptable learning and project-based collaborativelearning strategy combined.2) The system not only settles on theory but also attempts to divide it to seven models. And it introduces function of every model detailedly, and brings forward some solutions to it.3) We research base of system—analysis of the learner's characteristics based on the system. And we introduce some concepts of the learner's characteristics, non-intellective factors especially, such as interest, emotion, will,character, motivation.4) The system is based on the soft and hard construction theory. We suppose the learner's characteristics have the soft and hard construction, and do academic supposition. We partition the soft construction and the hard construction, and attempt to find them out. The hard construction is steadyandindividual characteristics of the learner.5) In the research work of analysis of the learner's characteristics, we summarize a kind of new analytic model. We can get the learner's characteristics by it.On the mode of adaptable learning system design, it is based on cognitiveflexibility theory, constructivism learning theory and cognition theory. Mainly, wesolve realization of learning diagnoses, design of cognition model, dynamic showof learning content, automatic choice and distribution of learning project. Wedesign different models of adaptable learning system, and introduce function ofevery one.In the prior researches, objects of analysis of the learner's characteristics areteacher, deviser and administrators of education. But they neglect the mostimportant factor—the learner. And it is done by the teacher. But the learner don'tparticipate in the design that affect their content and result of learning. It onlythinks of many intellectual factors, but ignores non-intellective factors.In our research, we emphasize that the teacher and the learner do the analysistogether, and make the learner participate in it by case study. The analysis focuseson the non-intellective factors. Especially, it includes interest, emotion, will,character and motivation. Furthermore, it applies a new theory—the soft and hardconstruction theory to the research. We can find the steady and personalcharacteristics of the learner by the soft and hard construction of the learner'scharacteristics.We are sure that there is a soft and hard construction in each learner'scharacteristics and every factor which makes up of the learner's characteristicsalso has the soft and hard construction. The hard construction is stable, efficient,and able to forecast something for further learning. The soft construction isunstable, inefficient, unpredictability and so on. In the learner's characteristics,these factors which can keep steady, unconscious and automatic make up of thehard construction of every learner. On the other hand, those factors which cankeep changeful, unstable and conscious make up of the soft construction of eachone.We do academic supposition to the soft and hard construction that based onthe soft and hard construction theory. We research the soft and hard constructionof the learner's characteristics and bring forward a new method of analyzing thelearner's characteristics as follows:1) Firstly, we analyze the learner's interest, emotion, will,character and motivation by case study, questionnaire and some special questions.
