“ The National Medium and Long-term Educational Reform and Development Plan(2010—2020)”proposed“to encourage schools to be characteristic ”, so, promote all types of schools at all levels to be characteristic becomes a major strategic task and goal of the future development of national education reform direction. Therefore, it is very necessary to promote the theory research and practice of school characteristics construction exploration in depth. In this paper, the construction of school characteristics is the research object, with 28 representative cases of elementary and middle schools in Zhuzhou city. It studied the characteristics of primary and middle schools in Zhuzhou through data collection and sorting. Framework of this paper is divided into five parts; the first part elaborated the research background, research of theoretical and practical significance, the literature review on the basis of the concept of the features and characteristics of schools, the definition and analysis, and introduces the three research methods. This paper uses literature method, case method and experience summary method. The second part of this paper is an overview of the characteristics of primary and middle schools in Zhuzhou, and introduces the background and process of primary and secondary schools in Zhuzhou city including 28 representative ones. On this basis, the primary and middle schools in Zhuzhou city are divided into science and technology, arts and sports,traditional culture, moral education and management, and analyses the characteristics of those various types. Then summarizes the main experiences of primary and middle schools’ characteristic construction inZhuzhou from four aspects : the way to select the appropriate features,forming unique school culture, create outstanding characteristic construction, and planning and effective characteristic construction of the four aspects of the experience. The last part of the article is the suggestion to the further development of primary and middle school characteristics construction. Middle school characteristic is the combination of outer affection and inner affection. And puts forward related Suggestions from the administrative department of education and primary and schools their own angles.
