Task-based language teaching which came up from 1980s is a foreign language teaching approach based on tasks. It emphasizes that all kinds of study tasks are its foundation. Students must principally focus on how to complete tasks but not on language forms while they're learning. It converts the basic principle of language using into a classroom teaching method which put into practice. Task-based language teaching is the basic principle which advocated by the new standard of English curriculum, and one part of our country's English education reform. In order to form this mode gradually and put it into practice, the development and study of task-based language teaching is rather necessary.The whole essay is divided into five parts:Introduction: This section mainly deals with the present research status and trend, and the research meaning of ask-based language teaching.Part one: The connotation and specialty of task-based language teaching. In this section, the thesis sums up that task-based language teaching let students complete a series of tasks which come up from their needs by the ways of conversation, communication and creation of meanings, by analyzing the connotation of teaching, different definitions of task, and the connotation of task-based language teaching,.
