With the coming of the 21~st century, such expressions as knowledge-based economy and cyber-economy have become the most eye-catching ones in our everyday life. The Internet, like an ever-growing and ever-expanding net, is now extending towards every corner of the world. The effort of trying to have a clear understanding of both the positive and negative effects of the Internet upon ethical education in institutions of higher learning as well as the unprecedented challenges it brings has served as a new carrier and front line for the task of ethical education, which has become a tough issue confronting many educational workers. This dissertation, based on the analysis of cyber-culture and its influences upon university students mentality, seeks to address a variety of issues that are of great public concern with lucid explanation, such as the opportunities and challenges which the Internet brings to ethical education. It has also put forward some specific tactical advice as regards the reform in educational ideas, subjects and methods, and the stress on the pertinence and practicality of ethical education in institutions of higher learning as well as on the idea of advancing with the time and unremitting efforts of innovation, all of which are of great practical significance for college ethical education to better meet the challenges of the Internet.
