With the transition of the society and the popularization of higher education,the difficulty in employment of graduates has become increasingly serious,resulting in an acute economic and social problems. Employment is a social issue of great significance,which has aroused general concern in exploring the cause of this problem and the methods to solve it. Undeniably,the expansion of university enrollment and the structural disparity in supply and demand exerts certain negative influence on the employment problem. But concerning the internal causes,the more prominent factor is the traditional concepts and acts in choosing a job. Under the guideline of Sociology,this paper attempts to set forth some theoretical and practical problems of graduates in the concepts and acts in choosing a job by means of questionnaire,document search,individual interview and group informal discussion,etc while applying to quantitative analysis,qualitative analysis,discriptive analysis,interpretative analysis,element analysis and comparative analysis. This paper firstly survay the social transition and the consequent changes' significant effects in university students' concepts and acts in choosing a job as well as the challenges and opportunities resulting from them. Secondly , on the basis of corresponding definitions,it gives a specific account of the current situation and characteristics of the graduates' concepts and acts in choosing a job respectively by means of demonstration. Then it analyses the causes of them by resorting to theoretical analysis of social transition,changes in social value and the theory of rational choice in Sociology and meanwhile,it sets forth the social regulations and control in the graduates' rational job-hunting. Last,by the research of independent job-hunting and independent start of an undertaking,this paper attempts to explore the coping strategies of graduates for independent job-hunting and the means for the society to support the graduates' pioneering work,stating that the primary method to solve the problem in concern is to change the traditional concepts and acts so as to set up the concepts of independent job-hunting,independent start of an undertaking and other concepts and acts in conformity with social transition and higher education populatization.
