| This thesis is an exploration of writing teaching from theoretical and practical perspectives.The current English Curriculum Standard says, the four language skills are composed of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Listening and reading are called'receptive'skills; speaking and writing are called'productive'skills. These skills complement and promote each other in linguistic learning and communication. Students should develop integrated ability of English using on the basis of lots of practical learning activities. The Curriculum Standard puts emphasis on developing students'communicative ability in written English. During the past few years, the mark of students'writing is increasing gradually in NMET. However, for many years, English writing and discourse teaching are always ignored by English teachers in senior school. According to the results of NMETs, students'listening and reading skills are improving year by year, but the improving of their written English is not obvious. Therefore, it is quite urgent to develop students'English writing in senior school.The thesis aims at the problems of reading and writing in the process of English learning. It analyzes how to combine reading and writing pragmatically in order to improve the students'writing skills and meanwhile motivate the initiative of students.This paper covers five parts. Part One is an analysis of the relationship of the four language skills. Part Two reviews some related writing approaches and reading theories. Part Three talks about the problems of English writing in senior school. Part Four is an exploration of how to make use of discourse analysis theory so as to harmonize reading with writing together. Part Five is a conclusion. |
