The paper discusses the theory of task-based language teaching and analyzes the problems and merits on implementation in EFL classroom of the junior high school. The study puts forward a hypothesis that it is better for students to enhance their integrated linguistic competence when task-based language teaching are properly used in the traditional setting. There are five parts in this paper. The first part discusses the situation of English teaching in China and bring forward the research question: How to make task-based language teaching facilitated in the real EFL classroom. The second part illustrates the definitions of tasks and the components in task-based language teaching procedure. The third part discusses differences between the traditional language teaching and the task-based language teaching, and then analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the two teaching approaches. A practical TBLT model is produced and an experiment is implemented in the fourth part. Meanwhile, analyzes the results of the experiment and discusses the validity of task-based language teaching in the traditional setting. The fifth part states any teaching method has its own advantages and limitations. It is important to balance the theory and practice.
