Allusion, a kind of rhetorical technique, is often ignored in high school Chinese teaching. However, it affects the students' comprehension and appreciation about classical poetry. Therefore, the writer tries to make its concept clear. Based on the cultural factors and the characteristics, the types of employing allusions have been put into different categories in this paper. From various angles, the creation, the spread of allusions and the influence caused by social collective consciousness and the individual motivation of the poet are taken into consideration in view of these, the writer proposed five methods for high school poetry teaching, which are aimed at the allusion comprehension. Because of the positive sense of employing allusions, we should instruct the students to use them correctly to strengthen their literary grace and rich the content as well.
