The traditional English teaching believed the grammar teaching was the most important, and it was at an isolated state, all the analysis was focused on the rules on the sentence, whereas the relation between grammar and words, language context, the social intercourse purpose etc, didn't get a valid study. Tne modem English teaching developed many teaching methods, such as intercommunication teaching, scene teaching and so on. Under the influence of these new methods, many scholars think the grammar teaching is not important any more, and will gradually weaken its functions. Now there are two different opinions currently, one is "weaken", the other is "recognition". These two opinions are endless debatable for a long time, which result in English teaching baffle, and also bringing negative influence to the high school English education.The grammar teaching has the very strong leading function to the English teaching of the high school. What position it is in high school is really a problem deserved researches. Seeing from current research circumstance, there are many dissertates about the grammar teaching situation in high schools. But it is all talk in general, not forming a more systematically and thoroughly study. This thesis focuses on the high school English teaching, refer to a lot of datum, analyze the present condition of grammar teaching currently, and combined the author's actual teaching work to analyze the situation of the grammar teaching by studying, analyzing, discussing etc, and put forward the grammar teaching development direction of the teaching process in future. This paper enumerates some difficulties such as student's go-aheadism, teaching material, teaching methods and teaching theories, then quest the language origin by which to try to find reasons. Now high schools take foster student's use English ability as a total goal. Seeing from the relationship among the grammar teachingN thelanguage knowledges the language ability, we believe the grammar teaching is only a part of the language knowledge, the language knowledge is the basic of the language ability, and this ability's progress judges the standard the student's social intercourse ability conduct and actions. Therefore, both teachers and students attach importance to cultivate the social intercourse and negative the grammar teaching.There are some changes and improvements on the grammar teaching that we can't teach as an independent part, and must combine with the comprehend to the whole text and the social intercourse. New teaching methods and theories get rid of the traditional teaching method and try to bring a new grammar method. Researching into the linguistics, we find all debates from the Chinese and English distinguish. Chinese and English have different thinking habits and grammar rules. The Chinese language even pays attention to the whole of thinking, the implicit expression and the rule at will, so it will influence the English grammar teaching. Owing to the influence of the teaching condition and the language environment, the end of the article puts forward personal opinions to the grammar teaching status in high school, which deem the grammar teaching is still a very important part of the English teaching, but the achieve measure will be reform that is to say, the grammar teaching and the language teaching will harmoniously develop and hold the grammar teaching scale is also important.
