With the implementation of the talent strategy and the strategy of rejuvenating the country, highereducation shows an unprecedented strong momentum. In addition, the construction and development ofhigher education institutions has a golden opportunity for promotion. As higher education rapidly promotespopular stage and internationalization forward, higher education institutions have formed a good situationwith intense competition as higher education rapidly promotes popular stage and internationalizationforward. To achieve sustained and healthy development in the ecological park of higher education, collegesand universities cannot be separated from the scientific, accurate and rational orientation because schoolpositioning plays a normative, restraint and self-assessed role in running schools. It is the platform ofhigher education development and the basis for running schools and it concerns the future and destiny ofthe school. Ability to develop their own schools to find their accurate places has become one of importantindications to assess high-level decision-making level and teaching standards.At present, most higher education institutions just blindly chase and crave greatness and success,without considering competitors' characters, without analyzing their own conditions and situations, andeven without researching on potential customers' demands. The positioning of the currently emerged'campus ecological construction' and 'domestic first-class and internationally renowned' is the embodimentof this concept. This action does not let colleges and universities brand bloom and provide help to studentswith regard to school choices. Most students thought any university becomes to be the same goal, the samemajor, the same service and the same face, except a few elite universities such as Beijing University,Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University. Students cannot make wise choices, being drowned in thesimilar information. Therefore, the key point is to make sure that higher education institutions make theaccurate and rational positioning and each is in his proper place. This is the main research issue in mydissertation.This article is divided into three parts: the first part is to define the concept of positioning on thedevelopment of higher education institutions and to analyze its existing problems and constraints. Thesecond is to introduce its theoretic basis in detail. The third is the main part which presents its strategies,situation analysis, and specific strategy of 'trilogy' and pays attention on problems easily emerging duringthe process of positioning.
