Learning strategies are the conscious thoughts and actions that individuals use to accomplish a learning goal. Language learning strategies instruction is one means of improving students'acquisition of a foreign language. The goal of learning strategies instruction is for students to become independent learners with the ability to use learning strategies aptly in a variety of situations. This article reviews theoretical and empirical rationale for implementing learning strategy instruction in EFL classrooms and argues that learning strategy instruction is an instructional paradigm that should be integrated into every teacher's language teaching pedagogy. In order to solve the problem, which we may come across many times after several years of teaching, that some students who learn English very well in elementary school may have a phase in which they feel inadaptable to the request of study and the teaching methods of the teachers when they get into junior middle school, the experimental study was done and achieved its goal. If the English teachers in elementary school and middle school gave the students a sort of holistic learning strategy instruction, they can optimize the students'learning achievements, and meet the need of the students'English learning through the period from elementary school to middle school. The holistic instruction of English learning strategies for higher-stage students of elementary school and lower-stage students of junior middle school is necessary. Only in this way can the elementary school students know what English learning strategies they should use in elementary school and will use in middle school so that they will be able to use them freely to adapt to the English study in middle school consciously.
