Self-determination theory was proposed by Edward L. Deci & Richard M. Ryan to study the degree that the behavior is self-determined. Self-determination indicates that the people do what he likes to do and experiences a sense of freedom. According to self-determination theory, the circumstance which supports autonomy influences the degree that the behavior is self-determined. In the circumatance where autonomy is supported, the behavior is tend to be self-determined, and thus will produce more behavior engagement and better performance. On the basis of a large amount of literature research, interview and semi-exoteric investigation, we revised the questionnaires that already existed and formed the self-determined questionnaire about the middle school students'mathematic learning; the perceived autonomy support questionnaire about the students'perception of their parents, mathematics teacher and classmates; and the learning engagement questionnaire. Using these questionnaires, we studied the factors that influenced the self-determination and how the self-determination influenced the learning engagement. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The self-determined questionnaire has four factors: external regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation and intrinsic motivation. The perceived autonomy support questionnaire includes the perceived autonomy support of parents, mathematics teacher and classmates. The learning engagement questionnaire has three factors: positive emotion, efforts and concentration. The three questionnaires all have good reliability and validity.(2)The school locus, grade, gender, whether the mathematic teacher is in charge of the class and the students'perceived autonomy supports all have significant impact on the self-determination in learning mathematics.(3)The impact of self-determination in learning mathematics on learning engagement and mathematic performance is significant. The impact of learning...
