Culture Teaching And Cultivation Of Cultural Awareness In Senior Middle School

The importance of culture teaching and cultural awareness cultivation is an increasingly acknowledged aspect in the foreign language teaching in middle school nowadays. However, it is still a widely existing problem that the senior middle students have a very good mastery of the grammatical rules and vocabulary of English language, but they may not be able to communicate appropriately with the native speakers according to the sociocultural rules, which may result from their lack of communicative skills and cultural awareness. Therefore it is of urgent necessity to develop systematic and effective techniques of culture input to meet the need of the students' development of cultural awareness.For the majority of the English classes in senior middle schools in China, the presentation of cultural information or knowledge is mainly through the medium of the textbooks in use.
