The UNESCO has issued a report, named learn to survive-future of education, in which it highlighted the purpose of education: to allow students to understand how to work, study, cooperate, and learn to be. In this type of environment, it stresses the importance of innovative textbooks that are helpful to students. Using these criteria, we can evaluate the effectiveness of the textbooks based on whether students consider them an important resource and tool in their studies, or whether or not their success depends on the factors such as a combination of knowledge, skill, competence and attitude. We can also judge whether or not the textbooks stimulates students to actively explore and develop their knowledge, and whether or not they help facilitate communication between teachers and students, student and student. Based on these factors, we will conduct research on what kind of textbook is more suitable for student studies and how to feature different textbook versions in order to get better effect.We are going to conduct the research on both theory and demonstration by comparison. In the beginning, it highlights the challenge, which we are meeting on the textbook, is the conversion of textbook and defines what textbook is for teaching and learning. After finding out the principle on how to edit a student-centric book, we will take five biological textbooks of high school for example and research on the following two items:The first one will be content analysis. We make a comparison with five kinds of textbooks on eleven aspects, which include design rule, contents, organization, sequence, method of examples, usage of picture, marks, expression, learning design, questions, and so on, as well as conclude what the differences are between them.The second one is to survey and research. Based on the results from analysis, design some questions on conception of textbook for teachers and students on how to encourage students to learn actively, cultivate competence, and so on. And do a survey among the teachers from twenty-five high schools spreading all over seven areas and eleven cities which use the above mentioned school books. Totally eighty-one questionnaires from teachers and 1388 from students were fed back. The survey is analyzed using soft SPSS by the statistics methodology to make a conclusion.After surveying and comparing with existing similar studies, the following conclusions can be made:(1) The textbook editors agreed that the student-centric approach to developing...
