Teaching material is one of an important part of the curriculum, the reform of which can directly reflect the advanced education theory. Biology is based on the experiment of natural science. The experiment plays a crucial role in the formation of students’scientific literacy and also is an important part of the biological materials. In order to further understand the characteristics of biological experiment contents in the textbooks in China,as well as to provide more reference for biological experiment teaching in China, the latest versions of high school biological textbooks in China-Ordinary high school curriculum standard experiment textbook Biology published by Jiangsu Education Press and People Education Press respectively, American textbook Biology The dynamics of life were studied, with the methods of comparative study and so on.In the respect of biology course standard, paying attention to scientific literacy and experimental exploration is carried out throughout both Chinese and the American standard. Chinese standard is more meticulous and specific on knowledge, while American standard is more freedom and flexibility, which gives teachers and textbook writers room to expand.In the respect of experiment columns setting, three versions of the textbooks have different styles, advantages, and significances for the improvement of students’ experimental abilities, but the exploring columns are all paid the key attentions to reflect the cultivation of exploring ability of students.In the respect of experimental arrangement, the experiment columns are carefully edited in three biological textbooks. Different columns of experiment are bright and orderly. Nevertheless, the American textbook gives is More detailed in column arrangement, which lays iemphasis on penetrating biological approach and training students in thinking ability.In the respect of experiment content in ecology, on the whole, experiments in both countries’ teaching material are close to the students’real life, and permeate the concept of ecological environment protection. Nevertheless, some simple experiments are lacking in our teaching material that can be conducted in the classroom. To the contrary, there are many mini experiments in American teaching material; Specifically, in the comparison of concrete experiment, the two countries frequently set different experimental content, experimental material and experimental design in allusion to the same knowledge. Each country has its own features in many aspects and is applicable to different teaching goals and teaching conditions.On the basis of comprehensive comparison, this study gives some recommendations on writing and teaching of ecological experiment teaching materials:presentting the knowledge content through experiment; changing the focus from experimental results to experimental process; adding some simple ecological experiments; carrying out field study and social survey activities.
