L-carnitine is the only transport for long-chain fatty acid in the mitochondria membrane, which plays an important role in the process of energy metabolism. As the rate limiting enzyme for catalyzing the transport of long-chain fatty acid in the mitochondria membrane, the activity of CPT- I decides if long-chain fatty acid can be tansfered into mitochondria to participate in β-oxidation, so the CPT- I is the key factor in the oxidation of long-chain acid. The level of the available L-carnitine is one of many important regulating factors. The energy metabolism of long-chain acid was limited because of the decrease of the level of L-carnitine in skeletal musle after once exhaustive exercise, and cells could not keep the normal physical function without of enough ATP. With the prolong of exercise, oxidative stress of exercise and lipid peroxidation harmed the mitochondria because of the broken of the balance between production and elimination of free radicals .L-carnitine supplementation can significantly increase the level of substrate, then activated expression of M-CPTI to promote long-chain fatty acid to be transferred into mitochondria to participate in tricarboxylic acid cycle and may contribute to increase the using and regeneration efficiency of ATP to build up athletes ability and defer appearance of fatigue induced by exercise. Besideds, there are a lot of researches about L-carnitine in medicine sports, for example the effect of L-carnitine on lipid peroxidation and enzymatic antioxidants, such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase, was evaluated and MDA content was decreased in skeletal muscle. There have been evidences that endurance-training can increase the relative expression value of CPT-I in skeletal muscle. But, the present researches have not involved changes of the relative expression value of CPT-I in skeletal muscle after L-carnitine supplementation during the process of endurance-training.The mice were fed by L-carnitine in douche for 4 weeks in this experiment, then the effect of L-carnitine and endurance-training on activity of antioxidative enzymes was observed, and at the same time we will investigate the effect of L-carnitine supplementation on the...
