A Study Of Effects Of Cooperative Learning Strategies On English Reading Achievement

The aim of the current fundamental education of English course is to help students construct efficient learning strategies while developing the ability of autonomous learning and cooperating.The New Curriculum Standard demands that students communicate with peers actively in English in an authentic situation and know how to obtain help when in trouble. Besides, students are required to develop interpersonal techniques while communicating.The Standard also advocates that ethnical education should be a great concern for teachers when carrying out language teaching activities. Teachers should create all kinds of opportunities for students to cooperate, learn, and help with one another so as to develop interpersonal techniques. Those students with low language proficiency should be provided with more learning opportunities and more concern from teachers.Cooperative learning has been used in the classroom as an effective technique for many years.
