| Dragon dance is a traditional sport in China that has a long history of nearly 1000 years. It is our nation's traditional physical education event which can make people strong and healthy, full of vigor. It's also a kind of the visual art and can amuse people. Dragon dance is a crystallization of Chinese politics, thoughts, culture, art, physical education, religious belief and folk custom. It's Chinese cultural education, Dragon dance not only enriches the content of the physical education culture in the higher institutions, but also takes amore and more important part in bringing up a new strong generation of our country.This study used references, experts interviews, questionnaires and mathematical statistics, made a thorough, deep and careful research on dragon dance in our nation's higher institutions. The result shows that:1. The degree of universality on dragon dance in higher institutions is low, needs to be improved.2. There are fewer institutions to have specialized course of dragon dance. The dragon dance teachers are understaffed which restrains the development of dragon dance in our country's higher institutions.3. Dragon dance can promote the development of students' physical and spiritual health. Some of them don't like it, the reasons are the publicity of dragon dance is not enough, the students are weak in the knowledge of dragon dance, the institutions don't afford the appropriate content makes students.4. The shortage of funds can't guarantee the training of dragon dance team. The old facilities delay the development of dragon dance in higher institutions.5. The research, thesis, books on dragon dance are fewer, and the thesis on dragon dance in higher institutions are even fewer.This study analyzed the current situation and figures out strategies to reinforce the dragon dance in our country's institutions systematically.1. The leaders should devote much attention to the development of dragon dance, The department responsible for the work should establish harmonious relations between parts and administer affairs scientifically we must raise funds from various channels and ensure the development of dragon dance. The institutions had better afford the appropriate conditions of dragon dance.2. Foster dragon dance teachers and build a sufficient and high level teachers team. We should select and develop the referees, establish the system of assessment.3. Give wide publicity to people about dragon dance culture. Help the masses to acquire the right values of dragon dance.4. Reinforce the scientific research on dragon dance, improve the dragon dance teaching level and status of dragon dance in our country's higher institutions. Publish the textbooks about dragon dance, make it dear to the teachers.5. From dragon dance associations in higher institutions, make the institutions become the communicating base of dragon dance.6. Reinforce international cultural exchange and internationalize dragon dance.
