This thesis, based on the basis of a brief introduction of cloze concept, theories and the importance of cloze comprehension in Chinese Junior Middle School, briefly introduced test-taking strategies and cloze test-taking strategies. But the thesis mainly reported a study of cloze-test taking training in ongoing junior English classroom, which aims to help students to get a sense of cloze test taking strategies and processes, and aims at the examining points of cloze comprehension in the high school entrance English Test, with the purposes of improving junior students' ability to read and the skills of taking an examination, and investigated the effects of the training on China junior students' cloze comprehension ability by means of analyzing tests and the questionnaire and student interview by employing the quantitative approach and qualitative approach. Results showed that cloze-test taking strategy training was effective in enhancing junior students' overall English reading proficiency and reading rate. The intervention had significant effect on the improvement of students' abilities to take the discourse level, the whole level, the extratextual level items. At the same time, the students got great progress in taking metacognitive level items. However, the achievements of the word level and the sentence level items which the two groups reached were improved greatly. And the post-training questionnaire and student interview showed that students hold positive attitudes toward the strategy training, indicating that such training activities are relatively safe to use in Chinese junior English classroom.
