Countryside is one's birthplace. Local soil is the countryside's mud and land. In Chinese pictograph letter we can see the original meaning of soil: the up is mud and the down is ground. The meanings of "soil" in local soil and its original meaning are the same at the geography's view. That's to say mud+ground=soil. Mud is one components of soil, not the soil itself. The concept of local soil is concentrated on the ground not the mud. In the three space scales of the globe, region and local, soil belongs to local geography space. The object of local geography is targeted on nature and human environment in local space. Local geography explains different geographical elements and their relations with human being in local space. It belongs to regional geography up till now.In Chinese fundamental education local geography schooling began with the input of modern geography. Before the birth of the People's Republic of China ,the farmers consisting the most Chinese people had hardly opportunity to get local geography schooling for their children. And so, local geography education could not achieve its targets. The range of local geography is the point at issue all the time. In countryside local geography schooling at the unit of county is exposing its weakness gradually. Local geography schooling at the unit of township is urgent. At the same time the township's dialect should be spoken in local geography schooling. Speaking dialect can embody the curriculum's ideal of respecting students , arousing the interesting to study. It can also send forth dense local flavor. Moreover, the students' living environment should be introduced into curriculum according to the new curriculum's standard. This is the external reason to conduct local geography schooling at the unit of township.
