During the new curriculum reformation, inquiry teaching is considered to be an important teaching and learning method, and it has the advantage to cultivate students' scientific ways and scientism. However, there are several factors influenced implementing inquiry teaching effectively, classroom environment is a no slighting one. Classroom environment includes physical and social & psychological environment. Finding out some factors that influence inquiry teaching most prominently can provide the theoretical and practical values and guidance meaning for its furtherimplementation and quality improvement.At present, among the researches inside and outside nation, there are many studies about the definition, sorts and modes of inquiry teaching on the theoretical arrangement. On the other hand, qualitative and measurable researches on the classroom environment are abundant. But there is no research about the combination of inquiry teaching and classroom environment, discussion the classroom environment's influence to inquiry teaching, namely to ability of science inquiry. Cultivating students' ability of science inquiry is one of the most important targets of inquiry teaching, so the evaluation of classroom environment's influence to ability of science inquiry reflects classroom environment's influence to inquiry teaching.The dissertation has two parts: one is theoretical analysis, and the other is investigation.Part one: Constructing the factors in classroom environment of inquiry teaching theoretically This part which adopted the qualitative method, based on common environment and constructive learning environment, referred to relational questionnaire tables on classroom environment, linked to characters and implemental conditions of inquiry teaching, has been found out five great factors that influence inquiry teaching most prominently: experimental equipment, cooperation and communication, classroom atmosphere, task scene and self-determination.Part two: Investigation of the classroom environment's influence to ability of science inquiryThis part that used the quantitative measures, grounds on theoretical analysis and literaturesummarization, worked out the Physical Inquiry Classroom Environment Inventory and Students'Ability of Science Inquiry Inventory. The two inventories were administered to 450 students in 9different schools in Chongqing city. One class of grade 9 students was sampled at each school.
