Ren Hong-jun(1886—1961), a famous patriotic entrepreneur of science, devoted all his life to the founding and spreading of science in Modern China. He was one of main founders of the Science Society of China and the Science magazine. He once held the posts of the professor in Beijing University, director in Special Education Department of Ministry of Education, the vice-principal in Southeast University, principal in Sichuan University, director in the Execution Office of the Board of Trustees of China Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture(short for "the Board of Trustees of China Foundation") , and the general secretary in the Central Research Institute. He made the Remarkable contribution to the development of science in Modern China.This thesis's subject is Ren Hong-jun's founding and advancing the science education in Modern China. Based on reorganizing and analyzing plenty of first history materials and researches made by others, the thesis systematically covers his thought and practice of science education.Besides the introduction and the conclusion, the thesis mainly includes four parts:The first part is about the forming of Ren Hong-jun's ideal of "Saving the Nation through Science" .The ideal greatly affected his value orientation of science education.The second part is about Ren Hong-jun's view of scientific culture and that of science. It emphasizes that science is very important in the Modern culture, that science can promote the human being's rationality, that scientific method is the nature of science and that scientific spirit is the essence and centralism manifests, which are all the foundation of his thought of science education.
