The alliance between science and education is one of the major issue of the modernization of Chinese education during the first half of 20th century. By making quite comprehensive and careful investigation on the ideas of science education during the May 4th new culture movement , this thesis attempts to seek the key to understand the winding development of modernization of Chinese education, providing the richer thought resources for today relying on science and education to rejuvenate the nation strategy.The comprehension on the essence of science lay the philosophical foundation for the May 4th sages to establish their science education ideas. Aiming at eliminating people' s ignorance and the misunderstanding on the science, the sages started to carry on the omni-directional initiation and the propaganda on science' s connotation, extension, essence, function and so on. They brought the true modern significance science ideas to China. These ideas has changed the modern times the Chinese one-sided understanding regarding the science as the technology which uses for the manufacture or one kind of new social philosophy, and started to correct the modern Chinese by the value system understanding science tendency, enabling these two kind of understanding to obtain the unification in the science original significance.By the May 4th new culture movement, the school science education system has basically formed. But that did not mean society's general acceptance on science education value, the people still have the divergent ideas or even serious prejudice on science and the science education . Therefore, the recognition science education value again and the affirmation science education status has become the May 4th sages' s emphasis discussion content, with the intention of building good social atmosphere for the science to enter into the education. This time people broke through the material stratification plane tool value to the science education value understanding, emphasized the energetic value which is easily neglected or despised by the people. The science education standing in the phenomenon world may save the nation from subjugation and improve individual life; Hasing the matter in the entity world may transform people's thinking mode and promoting individual spirit development.In order to prevent the science flows in the danger which talking idly, the May 4th sages have started to carry out the idea dissemination and propaganda gradually to the education practice, moving the science education key point to raise the students'...
