The Occasion Of Teacher Involvement In Children's Play

Teacher may promote the level of child development by involvement in their play. The important thing is that teacher should choose appreciate occasion to intervene the play. The purpose of the study was to discuss the present situation of involvement occasion and find out the influence factors.The study selected the N kindergarten which had rich experience of play instruction as the object. Two classes were extracted from each grade randomly and the teacher-child interaction of 11 teachers was observed in play.The study demonstrated that teacher had strong consciousness of involvement about children's play. The characteristic of the intervention was initiative, frequent, extensive. Although there was large number of involvement behavior occurred in play, the impact of them was not optimistic. The number of invalid and negative effect was high. According to the goal of participation, the involvement occasion was divided into 7 kinds of types: response, initiative help, understanding play, guiding play, keeping order, daily care and teacher's work. As a result of paying great attention to children's cognition development, teachers always chose involvement opportunities which correlated with cognition development and neglected the opportunity of other aspects of child development. The researcher thought that the influence factors of that phenomenon are following: state of children's play, basis of the involvement occasion choice, space of play and the teacher's role in the play.There are some recommendations that teachers should promote their ability of observation; appreciate the children's play; communicate with children emotionally; think about the involvement by themselves.
