The education of affect is a facet of quality education. Fostering students' communicative competence and positive attitudes towards English are the ultimate goals of English teaching. Thanks to the initiative of cultivating students' communicative competence and positive affect, more and more attention has been paid to the cultivation of affect in English teaching in the past years. However, influenced by the test-oriented system, many teachers are still used to teaching English as knowledge in high school. In class, they pay too much attention to explaining language points, and students are busy copying what the teacher says. Students are in a passive position during the whole period of classroom teaching and their enthusiasm is discouraged. In addition, students have few chances to practice the language, so their positive affect towards English is badly hindered and their affect is depressed. And they have little enthusiasm in learning English and many of them have even given up learning English even since junior high school.According to the social constructivist theory, knowledge is constructed by the learner himself on his own initiative, and it is not transmitted from or by others. It emphasizes student's active role in class and argues that students should learn actively instead of accepting knowledge passively. Teachers and learners also interact on each other; the way that teachers behave in the classroom reflect their values and beliefs, and the way in which learners react to teachers will be affected by the individual characteristics of the learners and the feelings that the teacher conveys to them. Social interaction theory argues that from the time of their birth children are in a social world, and their learning occurs through interaction with other people. This interaction has a close relationship with affects. Psychological interaction of affect and cognition in class will contribute to students' development of mental and psychological potential. The people around, especially the learner's partners, are very important to their cognitive process and will to a great extent affect their language development. Educational psychologists think affect has a general enhancement in efficiency, and it concerns enthusiasm in activities.In classroom English teaching, teachers and students are both the principal parts of the process of language teaching and learning, so almost all the activities in the classroom...
