A Study On The Strategies Of Stimulating High School Students' English Learning Motivation

New Curriculum Standard has brought teachers and students new challenge. If students want to achieve the teaching and learning goals, they must have strong motivation in English learning. In New Curriculum Standard, the first aim is to develop the students' emotional attitudes. As for the course of English, learners' interest and motivation are the most important, however, there are some problems with high school students' motivation in English learning. Therefore, developing the students' motivation is our English educators' first urgent task.Many linguists have carried out considerable researches on motivation in SLA. Based on these theories and the author's own teaching experience as well, this essay tries to explore some effective ways to develop high school students' English learning motivation. After some investigations and research on high school students' English learning interest and motivation, the author points out those factors that influence students' motivation and suggests ten strategies to stimulate students' English learning motivation. The author hopes those strategies will be useful to English teachers in high schools.
