Training innovation ability is a kind of need to adapt to the development of era and promote our nationality's progress. As we all know, the core of innovation ability is the creative thinking, while the core of the creative thinking is the students'imagination. So, to train the students'imagination should be an important task of Chinese teaching.The poetry is one of the literature designs stressing the rhetoric most, in which various kinds of figures of speech are used most frequently. The daily figure of speech condenses poet's unique feeling and spirit of creation, and it is a kind of language art that poets use association and imagination to make out. It can let us soar freely with unfolded wings in the artistic conception that the poets create.In senior Chinese textbooks, daily figure of speech of famous poetry at all times and in all lands are extremely rich in imagination, such as metaphor, personification, hyperbole, etc. Therefore, in the course of Chinese teaching we should cultivate the students'imagination by making use of imagining characteristics of these daily figures of speech.At present, there are serious problems in teaching figures of speech of poetry in high school. We used to only focus on explaining figures of speech, but ignore the study and realization of figures of speech from the psychological angle, and we also ignore functions of figures of speech to train students'imagination.Thinking in image is an important component of human thinking. Imagination is a key link of the thinking in image, so without imagination we can't refer to thinking in image. Strengthening imagination is an important condition of carrying on thinking in image.Creative thinking is an important characteristic of innovative talents.Once a man loses his imagination, his creative thinking will be exhausted. Because abundant imagination is wings of creative thinking, and also is a demand for social progress, we have to train the students'imagination. Imagination is a kind of psychological course, in which people analyze, synthesize, process and transform memory representation in the mind so as to form new representation. To train our students'imagination, we should foster student's abundant representation first.The emotion is the motive force of imagining activity. That requires the teacher to lead students to experience the emotion soaked in these figures of speech with the body and mind in teaching figures of speech of poetry. Since the emotion promotes the advancement of imagination, we should pay more attention to training student's abundant emotion.People's thinking is closely related to a person's personality and morality, which behaves very obviously in imagining activity. To train good personality creates the favorable condition for training imagination.The person not strong of association is difficult to carry on imagining activity, for association is the most active creative factor. Therefore, we should pay attention to utilizing the law of association to carry on the cultivation of students'association ability.It must be with the aid of association and imagination to realize dispersing thinking. Moreover, in order to train students'imagination we have to pay attention to training students' dispersing thinking.An important characteristic of inspiration thinking is the imagining. The inspiration is the collision of all kinds of imagination. In order to train students'imagination, we should also pay attention to training students' inspiration thinking.
