Language is a practical subject, and it is also a tool for thinking and communication. With the reinforcement of the international intercommunion, communication function is gradually emphasized. However, for a long time, because of the effect of the pressure of entering the college, we had to adopt traditional teaching method in foreign language teaching, that is, the teacher-centered teaching method. As a result, the students' ability of using the language is very poor. During these years, because of the needs of the society, we gradually adopt such teaching method as communicating approach, but most of the time we just do as we used to. As a result, we hardly made progress. Now "New curriculum for Senior English Teaching" requests that we should not only develop students' ability of language use, but also improve students' ability of thinking and expressing in English, ie. to enhance comprehensive language ability. As we know, writing is one of the comprehensive language abilities. Now, people are paying more and more attention to writing. The marks of writing in all kinds of English examinations are increasing. From the year of 2003 on, writing marks have been increased in the test papers of College Entrance Examination in Beijing, in which it has changed from one composition to two compositions, and that the marks have been changed from 25 to 35. It completely proves that we should pay more attention to language use in Beijing, the international city. In this way, we know that the improvement of English writing has been totally thought much of. It's time that we created a new English teaching method to meet the need of the future.With the above situation ,I used "Task-based learning" in my in English writing in Senior 3 . It was a research on how to improve the students' English writing. I adopted "Task-based learning" method in 2003---2004 seminar, and collected some materials during this time, which greatly benefited the research.By analyzing the present English teaching methods, I have understood the concept of the "Task-based learning", I have also done some research on the theories of the present English teaching method, and put these theories into practice, that is, presenting the English teaching as "tasks" to the students by changing the teachers-centered method to the students-centered method, and changing language teaching into language acquisition .I was always trying to find a way to improve the students' comprehensive ability of using the language by practice, and at last I tried to find a new mode of senior English writing.Results show that "Task-based learning" is effective in improving the students' writing level. Through one year's practice, students' writing level has been improved greatly, and the results in College Entrance Examination are satisfactory, which suggests "Task-based learning" can be applied in senior English writing, In this way, students' studying enthusiasm is motivated, the results are increased, and the most important is that the ability of comprehensive language use is relevantly increased.
