As we all know, there are four aspects about English learning. They are listening,speaking, reading and writing. Every of them plays an important role in English learning.Especially for the writing which is one of the output factors. During the recent years,writing is more and more important and its significance is showed clearly today. It canembody the proficiency and the level of the English learners. Without this kind of outputfactors, we can hardly evaluate the effect of language learning.Ministry of Education issue a standard of English curriculum (2001) indicated that weshould add up some open activities to aim at improving the interest of the students bydoing tasks. That is, carrying on the task-based approach in daily life education canstrengthen the integrated ability of English.This study discusses the writing teaching of task-based approach, which aims atclassroom writing. Through test and questionnaire we can identify the effectiveness of thisapproach in the senior school English writing teaching under present situation. Theexperiment was carried out in two grade-one classes with similar numbers of students andsimilar English level within12weeks. During the experiment, pre-test, post-test andquestionnaires with several students were carried out and data analysis was conducted.The research attempts to find out the answers to the following questions:1. Can the task-based approach promote the senior high school students’ writinginterests and enhance their writing motivation?2. Is the task-based approach effective in helping the senior high school students todevelop a better writing habit?3. Whether the task-based approach can improve senior high school students’ Englishwriting achievements?This empirical study is designed to test the validity and feasibility of using thetask-based language teaching to senior high school English writing teaching. During thelast two decades, a lot of alternative syllabus models have been come up with, whichconcludes a task-based approach. As we know, task-based approach is a new method torealize the communicative language teaching. It is expected to provide opportunities forstudents to practice writing by tasks which are designed to help the students in the fieldswhich includes authentic, practical and functional use of language for meaningful purposes.The purpose of the study is to provide high school students with a helpful English learning environment, adequate time and opportunities for practicing writing and motivatingstudents to learn and give them the confidence to write.According to the results of the experiment, it has a big difference between EC and CC.From table4.7, the author can draw a conclusion that the SD in EC is10.00388and that inCC is10.68154, Sig (2-tailed)=0.001<0.05, so there is significant difference between thetwo classes.It shows that task-based approach can help to motivate students and stimulate theirinterest and motivation. And then they have rather writing strategies. So the author canconclude that task-based approach can be applied to English writing teaching in seniorschools.
