The essence of education is to mould the future , and the essence of school management is to improve education and to develop school as the main body of education . However , in the practice of school management , some educators behave to pursue short effect, ignoring long-term benefits. Short-term behaviors in school management refer to the actions of management that are bad for the whole development of students and the healthy development of the school work because school leaders just pursue short-term benefits or superficial educational effect ,while not obeying educational rules and going against educational goals . Short-term behaviors in school management mainly show as follows: When managing persons, say , teachers, they pay much attention to the use and control ,while little to culture and plan. When managing students, they value the proportion of students entering schools of a higher grade, despising the students who are not good at their studies. When managing substance, they attach importance to substance, ignoring persons. When managing things, they practice fraud .Why do these behaviors exist? The main causes include the system of school leader-centered thought, objective causes inside or outside schools and the qualities of school leaders, etc. In order to avoid the short-term behaviors in school management, we should reform the system of school leader-centered thought as follows in details: Firstly, the government should change its function, adjust the relationship between administrative department and the school to show the governments' macro management . To do this well, we should separate the administrative department from school, strengthen the establish of school rules and show the governments' micro educational management. We should reform the system that school headmasters are chosen and get rid of the influence of leader-centered thoughtless. Secondly, we should make clear the relationship between the duty and power of the management, that is, we should carry out such a system that school headmasters are responsible for their behaviors.
