Objective: Study on the relationship between special training and the study performance, creativity of primary school students.Methods: Objects We had randomly drawn out 6 primary school from all the primary shchool in Dalian. We had choosen 818 cases from grade five and six of these schools during November 2005 to April 2006. The average age was 11.46 years old, and male were 413 cases and female were 405 cases. According to wheather they had recived special training and the special training types we divided all cases into 4 groups:⑴Math and English Group (n=529): include the students who had received the special training of Olympic mathematics or English.⑵Music and Art Group (n=55): include the students who had received the special training of art.⑶Mixed Group: include the students who had received the special training of both Olympic mathematics or English and art.⑷Control Group (n=114): include the students who had not received any special training. Methods We had investigated with general questionnaire, Tests of Creative Thinking (TCT), Williams creativity assessment packet. Data was input in the computer, statistic analysis used sample t test, Chi-square, One-way Anova, and Spearman correlation.Results: 1,Special tranning state: 698人(85.3%) had received the special training, 87.5% of them are volunteered to received the special training. 529人(64.7%) of them had received the special training of Olympic mathematics or English. 51.0% of them received the special training from 2005-2006. 73.4% of the students attended special tranning classes at Saturday and Sunday. 86.0% of the students accepted training 1-2 times per week. 2,Effect of Special tranning on study performance:⑴Mathand English Group and Mixed Group had significant difference with Control Group on Chinese and English test(P<0.05).⑵Different special tranning groups had significant difference on Chinese and English test(P<0.05). Male and Female of Math and English Group had significant difference on Chinese and English test (P<0.01). Male and Female of Music and Art Group had significant difference on Chinese test (P<0.05).⑶Test scores had positive relationship with the total time of special training(rs =0.134,0.135,0.234, P<0.001), parents education ground (rs=0.158-0.264, P<0.001). 3,Effect of Special tranning on Creativity: 1)Creative thinking:⑴Music and Art Group and Control Group had significant difference on"Name giving"test(P<0.05). Math and English Group and Mixed Group had no significant difference on TCT with Control Group (P>0.05).⑵Different special tranning groups had no significant difference on TCT test(P>0.05). Male had significant difference on"Purpose"test with female (P<0.05). Different Grades had significant difference on"Purpose"and"4 points Drawing"test (P<0.001). 2)Creative trend:⑴Mixed Group and Control Group had significant difference on Williams creativity assessment packet (P<0.05). Math and English Group and Music and Art Group had no significant difference on Williams creativity assessment packet with Control Group(P>0.05).⑵Different special tranning groups had significant difference on totle scores, adventure, curiosity, and imagination (P<0.05). Male had significant difference on adventure with female (P<0.05). Different Grades had significant difference on Williams creativity assessment packet (P<0.05).⑶Math and English Group's total time of special training had positive relationship with totle scores, adventure, curiosity, and challenge (rs =0.085-0.095, P<0.05). Music and Art Group's total time of special training had positive relationship with totle scores, adventure, and curiosity (rs =0.073-0.083, P<0.05). Mixed Group's total time of special training had positive relationship with totle scores, and all factors (rs=0.081-0.100, P<0.05)..Conclusions:1. Most primary school students had recived special training.2. There had differences on the study performance between the students who had received special training and who hadn't received specialtraining.3. There had differences on the study creativity between the students who had received special training and who hadn't received special training.4. There had differences on on the study performance between the different special training types.5. There had differences on on the creativity between the different special training types.
