How to make students to improve their oral English level in vocational high school is a big problem because of the low level and huge diversity on their performance. Heterogeneous group is regarded as the most efficient way to benefit all students; especially the low-level students for the technique of cooperative learning can be well used in this kind of group. This article is expected to find a practical way to improve the oral English level through training students' in heterogeneous learning groups. Two classes or sixty-four students in vocational high school of Daxing district participated the experiment and were trained in ability groups and heterogeneous groups partly (The item of ability group would be defined in the later chapter). Data collection was conducted mainly through questionnaires, pre-and post-examination and individual interviews. The result, which were analyzed in the quantitative and qualitative methods, showed that: 1 ) training oral English in groups can rearrange the class time and make the limited time for practicing become sufficiently; 2 ) the heterogeneous group working can strengthen students' self-confidence and the feeling of responsibilities as well encourage students study with self-motivationand these led to the efficient study; 3) Compared to heterogeneous groups, the absence of communication and cooperation in ability groups led to the low-efficiency study. Although there exits some defects or some respects that need further researchers, the exciting results that were expected at the beginning have appeared.
