Cooperative learning came from U.S.A. at the beginning of the 20th century, obtaining substantive development from middle period in the 1970s to middle period in the 1980s.. What is called cooperation is student's cooperation through dividing the work that reaches the goal. It is not only favorable to the improvement of the learning result, and is favorable to the cultivation in thinking ability, self-esteem, self-confidence, inherent motive, external motivation, psychological health, social ability, which has reflected the human-oriented thought.The changing of learning way was proposed by " the outline of basic education course reforms (try) ".The student's innovation of learning way is to advance the focal point of quality-oriented education on the classroom aspect of school in an all-round way at present. It especially puts emphasis on acting on one's own, cooperating and probing into. Then the new kind of teaching organizational forms, the teaching mode of cooperative learning ,which are applied extensively and effectively in English teaching in recent years. However, I find that cooperative learning doesn't reach the ideal result in teaching practice of senior high school ,even contrary to the first aim, there are less effective phenomena. For this reason, this text reviews on these phenomena, putting forward some tactics attempted to solve it.In the English classroom, the teacher is apt to lay particular stress on and teach the language knowledge of English, ignoring the training for student's language knowledge, which is extremely apt to make students become the passive recipient of language knowledge, make many students lose confidence to study English, having restrained students from using improvement and development of English. These have not met the need of the English teaching of senior high school under the new course standard very much. The classroom instruction needs the teaching mode, cooperative learning, which faces all the students and help the students to practice language in an all-round way.This thesis proceeds with the reality of English classroom and basic theories of cooperative learning, describing the intension, theoretical foundation and theory meaning ,It also combines the actual conditions of the English classroom of senior high school. It collects the classroom examples about cooperative learning , analyzing the great significance of the effective cooperation, probing into the idea how to excavate cooperative learning deeply in the English classroom instruction. It discusses especially how to give full play to the advantage of cooperative learning under new course .The thesis will make reader pay practical attention to cooperative steps and key elements of cooperative learning, Exchanging and disputing each other under the guidance of teacher, the students will teach and learn reciprocally to improve themselves together. Cooperative learning is significant, which not only help us know the essence of teaching and lighten the burden of teachers and students, but also improve participation degree of student's study and promote the teaching result.
