As the teacher professional development turns to be the trend, it has become the vital route of the educational reform for teachers .Briton is one of the countries which pay high attention to the progress of teacher professional development and has established a complete teacher- training system since 1970s. This dissertation mainly focuses on the specific descriptions of: goals and plans, ways of training, supervision , evaluation and policies and regulations concerned. It also makes a summery of the seven features of the British teacher professional development including strengthening the supervision and control of professional development for teachers; supporting the implementation of the overall reform of teacher professional development; establishing the partnerships between schools and training institutions; integration of pre-job and while-job training; the capacity-based teacher training system, improving the evaluation system and so on. In order to supply the teachers in our country with some references, this dissertation takes the cases in the special economy region—Shenzhen as examples to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the teacher professional development tendency. The advantages include that: the standard of the teachers in Shenzhen is better than the average standard of the whole country; .Shenzhen education bureau pays more attention to the teacher professional development and it has achieved a first-step result. The disadvantages manifest in the following aspects: Firstly, the teachers are lack of life-long learning consciousness. Secondly, the courses supplied can never meet the needs of the teacher professional development and there is no mature evaluation system for the courses. Thirdly, the fund for training cannot be guaranteed and the policy for continuing education isn't reasonable enough. Based on the current situation in Shenzhen, here are some suggestions: Enlarge the fund for the of the teacher professional development .Improve the teachers' teaching target. Strengthen teachers' practice. Perfect the contents of the recognitions of teachers' certifications. Call on the incorporate teaching methods before and after taking jobs. Establish a reasonable training system which must be enforced, strengthen the school-based teachers training and use the multimedia technology reasonably.
