| The athlete is the special group in the today's society, the youth athlete group become bigger for the age of athlete is lower year after year. The existence of this group calls for large concern and arouses hot debate of the whole society. They board at the juvenile sports school, accepting the coaches' straining, playing and exchanging with other boarders at the same places, which results in a lack of exchanging with their own parents. How about their psychological development and personality? This is the issue that the parents, educators and society concern about.In order to find out their personalities, the research was carried out on 145 youth athletes and 145 popular students in shanghai, which adopt Eysenk Personality Questionnaire(EPQ), Thematic Apperception Test for students(G-TAT) and SK-Kraepelin Psychological Test. It is shown that these youth athletes have developed their unique personality. They have no distinct psychoticism, but they are emotional and extroverted. On the aspect of personality traits. Although the need for love, acknowledge belonging and independence is not strong, they are anxious for the power, their needs come from mainly family and society, and they adopt negative attitude to life, but they feel happy for it. The results find that there is no significant differences in personality among the youth athletes of different genders. But there is significant differences in persistence, neuroticism and psychoticism among the youth athletes of different ages.The study also find that there is significant differences in personalities between the youth athletes of boarding and unboarding. The boarding groups have lower points on persistence and concentrated attention than the unboarding groups. Meanwhile, the boarding groups have higher points on neuroticism and psychoticism than the unboarding groups. That means the boarding groups are more obstinate, crank, dissocial, unsympathetic and emotional than the unboarding groups. The boarding groups are more higher points on the need for power than the unboarding groups but that are more lower points on the need for independence, society and family. However, the boarding groups have more withdrawn responses, which means that the are not satisfy with themselves, and blame themselves and have no confidence. Furthermore, the boarding groups have more aggressive behavior than the unboarding groups.We also summary the cause of the development of their unique psychological characteristics. We hold the view that the changes of social communication among the boarding children with coaches, companions and parents has an important influence on them. The effect won't happen individually but reciprocally and restrictedly. They are affect the psychological development of the boarding youth athletes together so that the unique personality of those children come into being. |
